Clean, warm, a little weak

Day: Sunday 18th Jan 2009
Time: llam ish
Location: Fairhaven Vic
Wind: Light sea breeze
Swell: 1 to 2 foot

Conditions: A weak and dying swell, with a light sea breeze. Fairly clean faces considering the mess the ocean was the night before. A couple of reasonable banks although a little inconsistent and closing out, likely due to the low tide and easterly trench this area of coast is effected by at this time of year.

Vibe: Moderate crowd, assisted by the easterly drift making it a little harder to maintain position and multiple peak options. There was a bit of the “magnet” effect going on, where catching a decent wave attracts the less insightful surfer to join you at your chosen takeoff location in the hope of snaring a piece for them-self – Summer.

Onshore washing machine

Day: Saturday 17th Jan 2009
Time: 4pm ish
Location: Fairhaven Vic
Wind: Onshore SSE
Swell: 2 to 4 foot

Conditions: Onshore washing machine as the title suggests, moderate onshore wind with a tight wind-swell mixed in with some leftover ground swell. A couple of rouge 4 foot sets, mostly floated around in the reform shore-break, found a couple of fun sections amongst the chaos!

Vibe: Minimal crowd, most seemed content to get ponded in the shore-break for an extended period of time, might just be the time of year… Once past the shorey they continued in an easterly direction down the beach courtesy of the cross shore current and to their general berwilderment.

Pretty happy with how it came up and really blown away that I got included in this publication. They have my address down as London Uk but that’s probably due to me not indicating one in my submission as I thought it was a much longer shot than it was… Oh and the subject is my daughter.

Sometimes I surf, sometimes a lot, usually not as much as I would like…

Well, talking to myself here no doubt, first post on a new blog and all that! Might as well get it out of the way and not crap on too much about nothing then.

What am I doing here? Well I started to post some stuff over on our business site and it sort of relates and adds depth but if you were a new customer you might think “huh?” if you saw it at the top of the page. So somewhere for that type of thing to land and an added reason for me to create, capture and contemplate as I will have somewhere to exhibit, a public space if you will.

Winki Pop - April 2008

Winki Pop – April 2008

A file shot from Winki Pop last April, a bit of size, lots of guys in the car-park but only a handful in the water.

Best laid plans… I know, lets see how we go hey?

Cheers
