Day: Sunday 25th Jan 2009
Time: 9am-ish
Location: The Flume, Warrnambool Vic
Wind: Clean offshore conditions – moving to a light sea breeze later in the morning
Swell: 2 foot clean swell, the odd 3 foot set and surf-able section
Something else: Australia Day long weekend camping trip to Warrnambool, surfing with old man Johns

Up at a Sparrows fart for this shot! Around 6.45am, being a couple of hundred km’s west means a slightly later sunrise than home.

Clean and (Warrnambool) fast.

“The Shipwreck Coast” putting on a little show for a select audience.
Conditions: Clean and fast says it all, almost all the elements that produce great surf dropped into place on this morning, just one thing missing, a bank for the waves to break on. This is a common issue in the region and the defining factor that relegates Warrnambool beach break surf as generally pretty poor. Really nice in the water though, a classic little morning.
Vibe: Interesting crowd in the water, dominated by holiday makers no doubt. Plenty of fading going on, wasn’t hard to find your own wave, waiting for the right one was the challenge…
