Friday arvo, a quick splash before dark. Midsize swell, easterly lumps in it, strong sweep down the beach – let’s call it a fitness session shall we?
There have been a few fun waves around over the last few days. Light winds and good beach break size swell. Starting to feel a little form coming back… Fitness is still some way in the distance though!

A couple of new pieces just completed.

Probably looks like it’s almost done, there are still a few things I want to take further and I really need to revisit the sea floor as it’s just not doing it for me at the moment…

The repurposing of waste materials can’t be knocked. Surfboards are a consumable product in the most part. With a varied life expectancy, anything that keeps waste out of land fill and provides a second life for a product is a part of a more wholistic solution for waste reduction in our books.

Wanted to have a crack at airbrushing some smoke for a while now, such a cool “fluid” element, although often a bit obnoxious in real life. What better format than on some fins? Nice and small, reducing the project timeline to an evening in the garage, perfect for my current state of mind – having trouble getting back to the canvases that have hours in them and many more to go…

Automotive base coats on sanded FCS fins (FG-5’s) Cleared with spray enamel.

Some of the smoke is working better than other parts, the reference images I have were pretty complex so I was picking out bits and pieces as I went, didn’t go back and correct anything, very organic workflow! And I’ll be surfing these until the paint falls off – then I might spray something else on em…
